Periodontal treatment
Periodontal treatment focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum diseases, specifically periodontal disease.
Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)- This non-surgical procedure involves removing plaque and tartar (calculus) from below the gumline (scaling) and smoothing the root surfaces of the teeth (root planing) to promote healing and prevent bacteria from accumulating. It helps reduce inflammation and infection in the gums and prevents the progression of periodontal disease.
- Surgical Treatment- In advanced cases of periodontal disease, surgical intervention may be necessary to repair damage to the gums and bone and to restore oral health.
- Gingival flap surgery-This involves lifting the gums to remove tartar deposits and to recontour the bone if necessary.
- Gum Grafting- Gum grafting procedures may be performed to cover exposed tooth roots and to enhance the appearance of the gumline in cases of gum recession.
